Law enforcement plays a critical role in our communities.This session will address the obligations of law enforcement agencies to understand and meet the needs of people with disabilities. Discussion will include obligations to conduct a self-assessment addressing physical barriers in facilities, policies and procedures to ensure non-discrimination on the basis of disability and the steps needed to ensure that you are able to communicate effectively with people with disabilities. Learn about the role that an ADA Coordinator may play in your agency and strategies for conducting outreach into the disability community to ensure that they are aware of the services you provide and can assist you to meet your obligations under the law.
