Biography


Fedra Najjar is the director of the neuropsychopharmacology clinic at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She is also the associate medical director of the comprehensive assessment and treatment unit (CATU), an inpatient unit at UIC dedicated for inpatient treatment of the severely mentally ill adolescents who are in state custody.

Doctor Najjar graduated medical school from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, following that she joined the psychiatry residency program at the University of Rochester, New York. She then completed a child and adolescent psychiatry training, at Brown University, in Providence Rhode Island.

In 2000, She joined the Brown faculty as assistant professor of clinical psychiatry. She was the associate medical director of their child and adolescent inpatient units and was involved in conducting clinical trials. In 2004, She joined the faculty at the University of Chicago where she ran the psychopharmacology clinic. At the U of C outpatient clinic doctor Najjar supervised clinicians from many disciplines treating general population of child and adolescent psychiatry. In 2005 Doctor Najjar joined the faculty at the university of Illinois at Chicago, and since 2009 she has been the director of the neuropsychopharmacology clinic treating patient with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Doctor Najjar is involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows. She has participated in NIMH funded clinical trials.
