Christy Blew is IT Accessibility Specialist in Training and Outreach in the Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A member of the Accessible Information Technology Group for that department, she has almost 20 years of experience teaching online and a large part of that instructing in IT Accessibility topics.
She is a member of the W3C Protocols and Formats working group and the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP). Her online and classroom training sessions include accessibility issues with Word, PowerPoint, and PDF. She has presented for the Great Lakes ADA Center and at various accessibility related conferences including CSUN.
Christy currently holds a Masters in Technology and a Certification in Computer Science from Eastern Illinois University, a certificate in Audio Description through Audio Description Associates, LLC, and is continuing her learning in captioning and transcription services.
Outside of work, Christy enjoys her time working with youth as an Equine Therapy Assistant teaching coping and distress tolerance skills, making puzzles and small games in her woodworking shop, and volunteering as a facilitator for an Addiction/Recovery Program. When the weather allows, you will find her out at one of the local ponds fishing.
