A key aspect of any accessible technology initiative is procurement: Making sure that all web-based products that are purchased (including websites, mobile apps, kiosks, workplace software, and more) can be used by people with disabilities.
In this session, you will learn about accessible purchasing guidelines created by the University of California and understand how to implement them at your institution. These guidelines are adaptable for both public and private sector. If your organization buys technology, and you want that tech to be accessible, this session is for you. The session will share specific documents from UC Berkeley’s accessible procurement program. We will cover both the contents and the process used in creating these documents, share lessons learned from early use, and plans for future expansion. By attending this presentation, you will have the information you need to start your own accessible purchasing initiative.
