Harmonization between the ADA Standards and the IBC/ANSI A117.1

Thursday, November 2, 2017

Description

Changes in the 2010 ADA standards were made so that they more closely mirror the 2003 editions of the International Building Code (IBC) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A117.1 standard. ANSI recently adopted a new edition of the A117.1 standard. Some differences still exist between the ADA standards and the IBC/ANSI in terms of scoping provisions and technical requirements. The Access Board will partner with a representative from the International Code Council, which maintains the IBC and published the recent A117.1 standard, to highlight differences between these documents, answer your questions, and clarify common areas of confusion.
