Best Practices for Inclusive Recreation Programs

Thursday, February 10, 2022

Description

Recreation programs offer unique opportunities for people to take risks, build skills, explore their creativity, and make friends. In this session, we will discuss the best practices for making recreation programs inclusive and accessible to individuals with a range of disabilities and ages. Topics will include advertising, registration, and the accommodation process for activities such as sports, summer camps, and classes. We'll also discuss issues unique to recreation such as one-to-one support, behavior policies, medication, and personal care. Participants will have an opportunity to ask the speakers questions following the presentation.
