Managing Partial Compliance with Section 508

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Description

Section 508 requires that agencies must ensure that all members of the public, as well as federal employees with disabilities, have access and use of the data and information developed, procured, maintained, or usedby the Federal Government. However, technology available in the marketplace or provided by private vendors in response to procurements does not always fully meet the Section 508 standards. The standards require that if a product meets some but not all of the applicable standards, the agency must procure the product that best meets the standards.

This webinar will focus on how agencies can develop processes and practices in anticipation of this reality.

  • What steps should be taken so that vendors are held accountable for accessibility claims in their bids?
  • Are agencies responsible for effective access to technology, as required by Section 504, in all situations?
  • How can effective workarounds be identified? Is it possible to negotiate for better conformance to the standards?

Hear from experienced Section 508 leaders in the federal government.
