When procuring information technology, many state governments follow state requirements for accessibility that are similar to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. A new approach to evaluating bids from vendors for accessibility has emerged from the states, called Policy-Driven Adoption for Accessibility. This webinar will provide a detailed description of this method, which federal agencies might want to add to their practices. The PDAA may provide a valuable way to evaluate vendors bidding on contracts to develop IT, where there is no product yet to evaluate.
PDAA should not be considered an alternative to existing processes and requirements, such as contract terms and product specific accessibility documentation, but rather as additional information about a vendor’s ability and commitment to produce accessible offerings in a consistent manner over time.
The presenters for this webinar are the three State IT accessibility champions who developed the PDAA. They will describe the need they wanted to address, what the PDAA is and how they have been able to integrate it into their states’ procurement processes.
