ADA National Network 30th Anniversary Series: Spotlight on Health Care Access: ADA, Disability and COVID-19 Resources

Tuesday, February 23, 2021
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Eastern Time Zone

Description

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires delivery of services in a way that ensures that all people have an equal opportunity to achieve the full benefit of a program or service (Title II or Title III). In health care, this means equitable access to services and programs to people with disabilities must be provided. This applies to modification in policies, practices, and procedures, effective communication, and the physical accessibility of facilities.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected many individuals by causing crisis and disparate situations in daily life. The 61 million people in the United States living with a disability have been overly impacted in the areas of medical care, education, mental health, and the loss of caregivers and support networks.

In this webinar, discover information, training, and publications from the ADA National Network on health care access under the ADA. From presenters of the Northwest and Southeast ADA Centers, learn about disability rights under the ADA and how they apply in the COVID-19 pandemic, including timely resources on accessibility at drive-thru medical sites; face mask policies and the ADA; and health care equity. Presenters from the Pacific ADA Center will overview the Webinar Series: Health Care and the ADA-Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities and highlight fact sheets on the topics of accessible facilities, employment, and non-discrimination in medical care.

Get answers to your questions and come away with a deeper understanding in accessible health care resources that can be helpful to both public accommodations and state and local governments.
