Biography


Russell Silver has held roles with the U.S. Defense Department’s Warrior Care Recovery Program, Career Learning and Employment Center for Disabled Veterans, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs providing recovery care and transition coordination, vocational rehabilitation, and clinical mental health counseling. He has expertise in job placement services and homeless Veteran employment programs. His areas of interest include supported education and student veteran issues, work incentives for competitive employment, and recovery-focused inclusion and integration. He was an advocate for the passage of the Post-9/11 GI Bill and founding Student Veterans of America board member.

He is a service-connected Veteran still serving as a Captain in the Army Reserve with 23 years of combined enlisted and commissioned service in the Active Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve. He has served overseas in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan. His assignments include communication specialist, platoon leader, human resources officer, and company commander.

He is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. He holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin – Stout and a post-master’s certificate in clinical mental health counseling.
