I live in a small town and our entire county is fairly inaccessible to deaf/hh people. They never provide interpreters for public events they didn't caption or provide interpreters for the daily Covid briefings until I went to the press twice & threatened them with a lawsuit (& for NYS as well) how can one get the local government to put someone on their boards or in an advisory capacity to make changes right away. I also have a service dog that has been harassed & denied entry into many places because they say the country gave them outdated & incorrect (not from the real ADA) materials and that the local cops won't and do do anything to protect the disabled and our service dogs from this harassment. How do we change that, it's really awful. |
